Presentations
Presentations should be held in an open and sociable spirit, BarCamp features a unique mix of creativity and technology that will become an accelerator for ideas, projects and people. Feel free to bring only a flash card — with a presentation on it — as you can use audio in each of the four lecture-halls.
The Presentations should be based on “BarCamp” style, including:
- Don’t announce topics in advance– all day Saturday until 19:10 pm and a white piece of paper at your disposal
- Be brief– the presentations may last up to 30 minutes (20 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion) or 5 minutes for blitz-presentations
- Be useful and practical– try to give your listeners something they can derive benefit from, talk about something that you are good at
- Less theory, more practice– give examples, real cases, problems arising and their solutions
- Talk about success stories– how you started, what blockhead or genius you were, what mistakes you made, what helped you, your how-to guide, etc.. The more open you are, the more you’ll get in return
- Be inspiring– use your presentations to tell a story with enthusiasm and passion, or with humor, make them stick in memory, not become a mummy.
The presentations should NEVER, EVER be made in the following style:
- When you try to sell something
- When a presenter is ill-prepared
- Plastic, with nothing new and interesting
- Water, with many unnecessary words
BarCamp Yerevan will be an international event, so preferred languages for your talks are Russian and English.
